Mold is a tricky problem to deal with – and it can be a persistent one. But can mold come back after remediation?

Here’s what you need to know.

Can Mold Come Back After Remediation?

Mold spores can grow (and thrive) anywhere they find a source of food and moisture. These tiny, invisible spores can latch on to things like cotton, drywall, or wood – and if there’s warmth, darkness, oxygen and moisture, even better.

And unfortunately, mold can come back after remediation. Typically, this happens when there’s an unresolved moisture problem in the area.

You can try to prevent it from coming back by ventilating your house well, and make sure you’re paying attention to anything that produces moisture, like stoves and dryers. If any part of your home is wet, dry it immediately.

Usually, you need to work with a mold remediation expert if there’s any type of growth in your house. That way, you can be sure the source of the moisture is eradicated and the mold growth is removed; both of these things lower the chances that the mold will come back after remediation.
